News update:

Ok, I don't have a lot of news (yet). Except for this:

A Protestant youth group in Germany is releasing a calendar with photographic illustrations from various biblical stories. Says the pastor of the church, Bernd Grasser, "It’s just wonderful when teenagers commit themselves with their hair and their skin to the Bible."

The skin that the pastor is referring to is exposed sin, as in nekkid exposed sin, to illustrate such 'erotic scenes' as a "bare-breasted Delilah cutting Samson’s hair and a nude Eve offering an apple."

Now, that the Bible is filled with nasty violence and eroticism is true and widely known to anyone who has read the Old Testament after Sunday School. No one's doubting that. And I don't think that anyone can argue that we should "represent the Bible in a way... to interest young people," as one of the models tells Reuters. But titilating and interesting are not the same.

And, seriously, shame on the pastor (I know, I'm sounding like Focus on the Family now), for not showing his congregants how to read the Bible with any modicum of truth. The previously quoted model also has this to say, "It doesn’t say anywhere in the Bible that you are forbidden to show yourself nude." Umm... and Jesus doesn't talk about the evils of giving in to lust and the severe punishments of tempters ("It would be better for a millstone to be tied around his neck and him be dropped into the sea then for the man to tempt one of these little ones to stumble.")

And no, I didn't get this from LarkNews.com. It's here on msnbc news.

Ok, piece of news pt. 2:

I know what this grandma wants for Christmas. But she needs to get off her lazy arse to get it.

  1. I wonder if maybe they have a foldout pictorial of Isaac sporting with his wife."

  2. there's certainly no shortage.

david's stories could go for a couple of years right there (unless they're doing a day-by-day thing. that might cover the whole ground)

    thanks for dropping by.

True enough. But Isaiah did walk around nude for three years. Not that I'm suggesting we all start modeling for Playboy mind you. Just sayin'.

  7. Ya never know. I've heard of stranger titallations. Maybe that youth group will do 12 of the prophets next year.

  8. hmmm... can we include violence in this series? i don't think nudity alone is going to cut it. y'know, like pulling of men's hair, burning of false priests, bears devouring young punks, etc.?

it would be like a large chick tract.

  10. we have similar undertakings here in america, destiny. for example, everytime we have a church opening in a mall, or a cafe in the church, i think of Jesus running around in the temple, throwing stuff around.

it's really just a matter of the church trying to win the world over by accomodating to the standards of the world.

of course, i'm pretty opinionated about this stuff.

  11. oh of course, but I agree. I mean to an extent I understand the whole, let's make the church hip and modern and appeal to the young audience of this generation...I can understand..to an extent..but when it's to the extent of molding the church to fit the world...hmmmmm..that's a little far fetched to grasp and not be alittle uncomfortable with...we are in the world, but not of the world...it strikes a cord with me, b/c actually aren't we supposed to be set apart, aren't we supposed to be differentiated, I mean, how are people gonna know there's something unique in us believers if we look like everyone else?!

    conformity...oh how I loathe thee!
